You don’t need to get involved with your imported liberal political correctness into something that is much older and more complex than anything you can imagine. This was said by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria Zakharova.
This is how Zakharova commented on the letter from the Chancellor of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Estonia Tarmo Mijlitsa sent to the Estonian Orthodox Church in the Moscow Patriarchate, in which he expressed concern about the draft of the new BP EOC Charter.
“Suddenly the Estonian Ministry of Internal Affairs became concerned about the charter problem … not about the internal soldiers, not the guards and not the security services. And the draft of the new Charter of the Estonian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate.
According to public opinion polls, Orthodoxy is the main religion of the country. Therefore, the believers in Estonia are mostly Orthodox. It would seem that the Estonian Ministry of Internal Affairs should at least understand and be familiar with the basic parameters. But it was not like that: the Chancellor of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Estonia, Tarmo Miilits, wrote a letter to the MP of the Estonian Orthodox Church, surprising her level of ignorance. Among other things, the defenders of the Estonian order were misled by the expression “unmarried representative of the white clergy”. Apparently she needs clarification.
What did the Estonian officials not like about the “white clergy”? A hint of… racism? I must explain.
In the Orthodox Church there is a division between white and black clergy. The white clergy include priests who can marry, and the black clergy include residents of monasteries who have taken a vow of celibacy. Before starting a ministry, priests can start a family, or they can choose the path of celibacy. Black clergy are moving away from theology and abandoning marriage.
That’s it. Skin color has nothing to do with it.
Don’t bother with your imported liberal political correctness into something much older and more complex than anything you can imagine, Tarmo,” Zakharova writes in her Telegram channel.
