Latvian beach volleyball players Tina Graudiņa and Anastasia Kravčenoka are each entitled to a fourth prize of up to EUR 23,051 for the fourth place in the Tokyo Olympics, LETA agency has clarified.

In accordance with the procedure for awarding cash prizes for outstanding achievements in sport and the amount of cash prizes, prizes are awarded for achievements in official international live sports competitions included in the competition calendar of the relevant international sports federation, if recognized by the International Olympic Committee. . Such competitions include the Olympic Games.

Prizes are awarded for the first six places won in the Olympic Games, the amount of cash prizes being calculated in proportion to the maximum amount of money for the first place. Consequently, Graudiņa and Kravčenoka will each receive a cash prize of up to 23,051 euros.

Athlete coaches and support staff will receive a bonus of up to 23,051 euros. At the same time, the regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers envisage allocating funding to the Latvian Volleyball Federation for the fourth place won by Kravčenoka and Graudiņa in the amount of up to 35,572 euros for the development of beach volleyball and training of young athletes.

The Latvian Volleyball Federation must submit applications for cash prizes to the Ministry of Education and Science. At the end of this year, these applications, together with applications from other federations, will be submitted to the Latvian National Sports Council for evaluation, and the council’s proposals for awarding cash prizes will be submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers for consideration. The exact amounts of cash prizes will be determined by the Cabinet of Ministers upon the recommendation of the Council.

LETA has already reported that the Latvian beach volleyball duo Tīna Graudiņa / Anastasija Kravčenoka on Friday suffered a loss in the bronze final of the Tokyo Olympic Games, finishing the competition in fourth place.
