In retirement, Alexandrine left Parisian life for Saint-Étienne, where she has a very busy life with multiple activities. She very quickly thought of intergenerational cohabitation.
Alexandrine: “Friendly cohabitation is more flexible”
Mother of 4 children (who do not live in Saint-Étienne), grandmother of 7 grandchildren, she cannot imagine staying alone at home. Why welcome young people? “Because they’re happy, they’re upbeat, they know a lot of things,” she says. I chose the convivial cohabitation which is more flexible. Lucile has her bedroom, her space in the fridge, she has free access to the kitchen, we share the bathroom. We sometimes eat together, “we invite each other” but it’s not a habit, everything depends on the opportunities. We sometimes go for walks, movie outings together.
