Jakarta –
It is not uncommon for people to be prohibited from using mobile phones or cameras when filling gas at Public Fuel Filling Stations (SPBU). Even the prohibition is clarified with stickers affixed to several corners of gas stations.
However, PT Pertamina (Persero) has decided to implement non-cash transactions at all gas stations through the MyPertamina application. The campaign has even been carried out since 2019 to make transactions using cellphones. How come there is a ban on opening a cellphone but paying for BBM can be through an application on the cellphone?
Acting Pertamina Patra Niaga Subholding Commercial And Trading Corporate Secretary, Irto Ginting, said the non-cash transaction system using cellphones at gas stations had been calculated. So that the point of using the cellphone can be called a safe point from danger at the gas station.
“The point of use for cashless payments has already been determined,” Irto said detik.com, Monday (6/12/2021).
Furthermore, an explanation of the non-cash transaction has also been disseminated through the official Instagram of PT Pertamina Patra Niaga. His party explained that the prohibition on the use of cellphones and cameras when filling fuel at gas stations aims to avoid irresponsible use so that they can trigger sparks.
The safe point referred to by Irto is 1.5 meters from the gas filling pump with a height of 1.5 meters from the ground or floor. The camera can also be used with that distance as long as it doesn’t use a flash.
“Our friends, the gas station operators, have been trained on how to safely transact using MyPertamina and EDC credit or debit cards in the gas station area. So each of us can be sure to stay safe,” wrote Pertamina.
