Retired people already know how much they will improve next year. The amount is announced well in advance so that everyone can prepare for it. The truth is that the published amount is no longer up for debate, but a simple fact. More will simply not be added, you have to come to terms with that. At the same time, it must be said that the state’s strategy in the valorization of pensions is changing in a significant way, so the years when even more than a thousand crowns were added to the pension are now irretrievably gone.
The numbers are clear
It should be taken as the fact that pensioners have significantly improved in previous years, when pensions grew literally by leaps and bounds. Everything was then topped off last year, when they increased three times and, together with this year’s valuations, finally pushed the average pension well above 20,000 crowns. At the same time, a full 80% of pensioners receive at least CZK 18,000 today, which is also a considerable gain.
Although no one says it out loud, now is the time when the economy should be allowed to process the increase in pensions and somehow catch up with it. This is also why there was a rather unexpected announcement that next year the pension will increase by CZK 360, and this will be the same for everyone, because it will be a solidarity part of the pension. This will not increase the merit pay, which has led to the opening of scissors among pensioners.
In total, next year pensioners will benefit by exactly CZK 4,320, which is actually not that little. If we look at it more closely, we will find that the average pension will jump to approximately CZK 20,600 as a result, which is not small at all.
Such a pittance?
“I really didn’t expect something like that. Add us a few hundred? They didn’t have to give anything at all. It doesn’t see how everything is getting more expensive. In January, energy should jump again and who knows how it will be with food, I’m still on the edge there,” describes Ms. Miluše, whose pension is currently CZK 19,300, which is therefore slightly below average.

On the other hand, it is necessary to argue that inflation should realistically not be a big problem next year, since it will be possible to bring it down to the target of two percent. In addition, we have a stagnant or declining economy, which simply cannot afford large expenditures. In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised if there was a freeze on pensions for some time until the state of affairs settles down and the situation improves.
