‘It has been an honour’ – El Financiero

Sometimes it’s good to know when to say goodbye, even for iconic singers and bands in music, like Aerosmith.

On August 2, the group shared a statement on their social networks where they specified the reasons for their retirement from the stage and it is related to vocalist Steven Tyler.

Why is Aerosmith retiring from the stage?

The singers of ‘I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing’ assured that, despite the attempts of rehabilitation of the vocalist of the band, he was unable to recover and for that reason they said goodbye to the tours.

“We’ve always wanted to blow your mind when we perform. As you know, Steven’s voice is an instrument like no other. He spent months working tirelessly to get his voice back to where it was before his injury, and we watched him struggle despite having the best medical team at his side,” Aerosmith shared.

However, the musicians regretted that the American singer did not make a full recovery and as a result they had to cancel his farewell concerts.

“We have made a heartbreaking and difficult, but necessary, decision as a band of brothers to retire from performing and touring (…) it has been the honor of our lives, in every club, at every massive event and in moments both grand and private, you gave us a place on the soundtrack of your lives,” the group shared.

How long did Aerosmith’s career last?

According to the performers of ‘Crazy’, the year in which they began their career was in 1970, meaning that in 2024 they would have completed 54 years of uninterrupted musical career.

Aerosmith had one last tour scheduled, but decided to bring forward the end and cancel the series of concerts, as a result they requested a refund for the tickets through the Ticketmaster platform.

What happened to Steven Tyler?

According to Variety, it was at a concert in 2023 that Steven Tyler experienced discomfort after the performance.

What happened to him was bleeding in his vocal cords, which at the time led him to postpone some dates of his tour until 2024, but he was unable to recover and finally had to announce his definitive retirement.

“It breaks my heart to say that I have been given strict orders from my doctor not to sing for the next thirty days (…) I suffered damage to my vocal cords during Saturday’s show which caused bleeding afterwards,” the American singer shared, according to the aforementioned website.
