Today marks the 70th anniversary of the reign of Britain’s current Queen Elizabeth II and will be the first British monarch to reach the platinum anniversary.

However, this significant date will not be celebrated with a large celebration, as the 95-year-old queen traditionally celebrates her father’s death privately 175 miles north of London on Sandringham’s property in Norfolk, where her father, King George VI, died of lung cancer on February 6, 1952.
The Queen is usually looking forward to Christmas and New Year with her family in Sandringham, but this time she was delayed due to the pandemic and arrived by helicopter only on January 23rd.
There are no public events planned for Sunday, but more celebrations are planned for the summer.
The celebrations will culminate on June 2-5, when there will be four holidays in the UK.
The platinum anniversary celebrations began on January 10 with a chef’s competition to develop a new pudding recipe. The winning recipe will be made public and the pudding will be served at the Big Anniversary Lunch during the June holidays.
The competition of cooks to create new recipes is a royal tradition. For example, in 1953, a recipe for the “Coronation Chicken” was made in honor of the coronation of Elizabeth II.
On May 12-15, more than 500 horses and 1,000 artists will perform in an hour-and-a-half-hour show at Windsor Castle, taking the audience through from the reign of Queen Elizabeth I to the present day.
The traditional military parade “Trooping the Color” is scheduled for June 2, which has not taken place in full for the last two years due to the pandemic.
On June 3, a Thanksgiving service will be held at St. Paul’s Cathedral in honor of the Queen’s reign.
On June 4, a concert with famous artists will take place at Buckingham Palace. The participants of the concert have not been announced yet, but this month the British people will be able to apply for entrance tickets to the event.
On June 5, all British people are invited to take part in the Great Anniversary Lunch, as well as street parties and other events. Already, 1,400 people have applied to organize a festive lunch.
Three exhibitions on the Queen’s Way to the Throne, Coronation and Anniversaries will open in July at Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle and Hollywood House. The exhibitions will feature portraits as well as jewelry and costumes from historical events.
In the history of the world, only three monarchs have been on the throne for more than 70 years. The longest reign was King Louis XIV of France and Navarre, who was on the throne in the 18th century for 72 years and 110 days.
King Pumipon Adunyadet, on the other hand, ruled from 1946 to 2016, 70 years and 126 days on the throne.
The third is the first prince of Liechtenstein, John II, who was on the throne from 1858 to 1929, that is, for 70 years and 91 days.
The Queen’s gold and diamond anniversary celebrations also culminated in the first week of June to give the public a chance to enjoy the good weather and festivities.
It is not yet clear how many events will be attended by the 95-year-old queen, who was advised by doctors to rest for several weeks after a night in the hospital in October. It will be the first celebration in which the Queen will not be accompanied by her longtime husband, Duke Philip of Edinburgh, who died last year at the age of 99.
Many of the anniversary events are expected to be attended by members of the British royal family, including heir to the throne, Prince Charles, and his wife, Camille.
The Queen’s estates in Sandringham and Balmoral will be open to the public during the Platinum Anniversary celebrations in June.
People are also invited to plant a tree in honor of the Queen’s anniversary, but students can create works on a theme of hope.
In 1977, after 25 years on the throne, Elizabeth II celebrated her silver anniversary with a large celebration in the streets and the queen went on a world tour.
In 2002, the Queen’s golden or 50th anniversary was celebrated with a pop concert at Buckingham Palace, and the diamond’s 60th anniversary in 2012 was celebrated with a glorious parade on the River Thames in London.
Meanwhile, in 2017, the sapphire or 65th anniversary was celebrated with ceremonial cannon rafts in central London, the Tower of London and elsewhere in the UK, as well as parades in London where World War I artillery weapons were pulled by horses.
Elizabeth II became queen at the age of 25. The coronation took place on June 2, 1953.
In September 2015, she overtook Queen Victoria, becoming the longest-serving monarch in Britain. In recent years, she has increasingly transferred responsibilities to younger family members, although she herself is involved in various activities, despite her respectable age.
At Christmas, she gave a traditional television address highlighting the loss of Prince Philip, with whom she had been married for 73 years.
