A moral farce witnessed the match between Monia Samannoud and Shabab Bidawi, in the third division tournament that was held on Monday afternoon, when Ahmed Lotfi, the referee of the match, was severely beaten by some young Badawi players and the club’s fans after asking them to count a penalty kick.
The match referee canceled the match after the stadium turned into a battlefield, he explained Video circulating on social networking sites.
For his part, Mohamed Morsi, the former Zamalek striker and general coach of Young Badawi, said: “The reason for this crisis is the referee for provoking him to the team’s players on an ongoing basis.”
He added, “The referee awarded us a correct penalty kick, and then Lamia Samanoud awarded an incorrect penalty kick, through which they drew with us in the 90th minute.”
While Tariq Mahjoub, technical director of Menia Samanoud, said that the ruling was not bad, as evidenced by his calculation of two penalties due to each team, and he did not have prejudice against Badawi youth.
He added, “When the score was 2-1 for us, and after two minutes of stoppage time, there was an attack by young Bedouin men, for their team officials to object to the referee and attack him in an appearance that offends Egyptian football.”
