The device called Flipper Zero, which has been the subject of a trend on TikTok for a while, also attracted attention by bypassing firewalls. However, Amazon banned the sale of this handheld device.

The device, which was first released in the summer of 2020, became even more popular this year with TikTok. Images of pranksters turning off the screens of restaurants, opening doors with cards and opening vehicles with cards attracted attention on the social media platform.

Flipper Zero, sold for $169, was not actually designed to deceive people. However, the device reminds us of some retro ‘Tamagotchi’ games; In videos shared on social media, it is seen being used to disrupt classes by turning off smart boards and turning off screens while playing a live video game.

In another case, a user managed to infiltrate a restaurant’s digital wallpaper and a fast food chain’s menu screens.

Although there are often videos on social media shared by users making jokes using the device, it has also been seen that the tool has more malicious uses, including imitating the signals on car remote controls.

The device has also become a tool against financial frauds as it can scan and remember credit card information, including from a smartphone. It can also steal card information through smartphone features such as Apple Pay, but the phone must be unlocked for this.

The device not only threatens technological devices, but can also open the doors of hotel rooms that are opened with a card.

Although it appeared to be used mostly as a joke on social media, retail giant Amazon decided to ban the sale of the device, considering its potential dangers.

Amazon sent a warning to third-party sellers to stop selling the product. The statement said Amazon policy prohibits the sale or listing of card skimming devices: “This product has been determined to be a card skimming device. We took this action because the sale of this product is not permitted on Amazon.com. You must ensure that the products you offer comply with all applicable laws, regulations and Amazon policies.” It’s your responsibility to provide it.”
