It didn’t work – a “very positive” developer was banned from Steam

The Steam administration has blocked the developer of the game Emoji Evolution for “manipulating reviews.” The developer of Emoji Evolution named their studio Very Positive. The same phrase is used on Steam to mark games that have many positive user reviews.

As a result, on the Emoji Evolution page, in the graph of the developer and publisher, the phrase “Very Positive” flaunted. In this case, the section with the user rating of the game is next to it.

“I knew that reviews have a huge impact on buying decisions. I noticed that the name of the developer studio and the publisher are next to the reviews and are marked with the same color. I decided to take advantage of this, ”- said the creator of Emoji Evolution.

According to the developer, Steam users often make decisions when they see familiar words, but not always pay attention to learning what those words mean.

At first, the creator of Emoji Evolution had no problems, but a number of publications, including GameSpot and Kotaku, wrote about the focus with the name of the studio.

As a result, Valve blocked the Emoji Evolution developer’s Steam account. The developer noted that he did not agree with this decision. According to the creator of Emoji Evolution, his only fault is that he made a “very bad game.”
