Al-Marsad newspaper: Children’s cough medicines caused the death of 300 children around the world, during the past five months, due to their contamination with toxic chemicals.
According to the British newspaper “The Sun”, cough medicines are contaminated with toxic chemicals, ethylene glycol and diethylene glycol, which are used in windshield wipers and engine coolants.
And the World Health Organization warned of 14 types of children’s cough medicines sold in Africa, Southeast Asia and Europe.
The lethal dose of these chemicals in adults ranges from 1000-1500 milligrams per kilogram. For children, the lethal rate drops to 28 milliliters, or about 6 teaspoons.
