GenPI.co – Systemic Lupus Erythematosus or Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) needs to be watched out for. The reason, the diagnosis is not easy and often too late.
Lupus is an autoimmune disease that occurs when the body’s immune system attacks the body’s own tissues and organs. Lupus can attack anyone.
“Most of them are found in women of productive age between 15 to 45 years,” said Consultant Rheumatology Cesarius Singgih Wahono in the “Long Impact Covid-19 and How Need Covid-19 Vaccination for Lupus Patients”, Tuesday (14/12).
Singgih said that the symptoms of lupus are mostly similar to other diseases. Therefore, the diagnosis of lupus is quite difficult.
In addition, the inflammation that occurs due to lupus can attack various organs of the body. This causes lupus symptoms to vary from one patient to another.
“Even so, there are a number of common symptoms that usually occur, such as joint pain and stiffness and rashes on the skin, especially on the cheeks and nose and are often called the ‘butterfly rush’,” he said.
