Julien Doré was the guest of Europe 1 this morning to talk about “Imposter”, his new cover album released this Friday, November 8. At Julia Vignali’s microphone, the 42-year-old singer returned to the recording of the song “Paroles mots” with American actress Sharon Stone.
Four years after the release of his album Aimee, Julien Doré is back with Impostora surprising and eclectic record composed solely of covers of hits like Sensuality by Axelle Red, Mama’s eyes from Kendji, Femme Like U by K. Maro or even As long as they are soft by Mylène Farmer.
Julien Doré remembers where he comes from “thanks to other people’s songs”
Nostalgic, Julien Doré also chose to resume Hi…Lolita by Alizée, the hit that made it explode 17 years ago during its passage in the New Star. “This is probably the first time since my participation in this show that I have agreed to stop for a moment and look a little over my shoulder to try to realize this chance that “was offered 17 years ago”, confides the artist this Saturday morning at the microphone of Julia Vignali on Europe 1. “I feel very happy to be able to remember where I come from thanks to the songs of others”.
Also on his album is the cover of Lyrics, lyricsa legendary hit performed by Dalida and Alain Delon in 1973. To live up to this monument, Julien Doré called on an icon of American cinema: Sharon Stone. In this new version, the roles are reversed: the actress takes up Delon’s text while Julien Doré sings Dalida’s part. “I immediately thought of Sharon,” reveals the artist in front of Julia Vignali. “We met sixteen years ago (editor’s note: by chance at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008) and this proposition immediately appealed to her. The idea of coming to the studio and recording her voice on this song that she knows it well and amuses him,” he continues.
The planets immediately aligned: when Julien Doré contacted the actress to offer her this duo, both were available. “There is one thing that is sometimes very stupid, and that is the relationship with time. That is to say that there is a time slot which makes it feasible”, underlines Julien Doré, delighted to have been able to share this moment with the star of Basic Instinct.
