“It all ended with the police.” Actor Mārtiņš Liepa talked about why he completely gave up alcohol

Liepa is the father of three grown children. He reveals that from today’s point of view, he would be happy if the children were younger. “Then I would have been at a wiser age. That was when I was in the academy. I had one goal. The rest of life was secondary.

For me, the overall attitude towards life would be different – I would drink less,” reveals Liepa.

When asked what event prompted him to stop drinking, he says: “I messed up when I came home. I went into the wrong room. Because I was at the stage where I was a poor speaker, and those young people – they lacked that life experience again, because instead , to help a person find where he is going, they showed aggression. It all ended with the police.”

“It was the point when I realized that something had to change,” the actor said.

He emphasizes that giving up alcohol is only the first step – it is necessary to change the way of thinking.
