“It was my great pleasure to accept Ekrem Imamoglu’s invitation, to attend yesterday’s Europe Day event and today to have a bilateral meeting with him. I thank him for the warm welcome. It is our commitment to work closely together for the welfare of citizens and the progress of our historic cities. We believe that cities and mayors can play a very critical role in promoting peace, synergies and progress for citizens. I will continue my contacts with mayors, so that in the upcoming European elections, the progressive voices against populism and intolerance prevail”, said Haris Doukas about his meeting with the mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem Imamoglou.
The mayor of Istanbul was particularly warm in his response to the mayor of Athens: “We are very happy to welcome the Mayor of Athens today, here in Istanbul, and I would like to wish him success in his term. I hope that our cooperation will continuously improve both at the level between the two cities, Athens – Istanbul, and within the framework of the B40 Balkan Cities network. Yesterday, Mr. Doukas was kind enough to participate in the celebration of Europe Day, and with his visit today, he made us especially happy. Once again I thank him for his honesty, friendship and support.”
Haris Doukas invited Ekrem Imamoglou to visit Athens and he accepted the invitation.
