Issy-les-Moulineaux: the Swiss Hospital obtains the “local hospital” label

It is as much a reward as an encouragement. The Swiss Hospital of Paris, located in Issy-les-Moulineaux, has just obtained the “local hospital” label from the Regional Health Agency (ARS). Seven other establishments in Ile-de-France have received this label, created as part of the Ségur de la santé. The Swiss hospital is the only one in the Hauts-de-Seine department.

This private hospital has been working for several years hand in hand with the city of Issy-les-Moulineaux to ensure better medical care for the inhabitants of the town. The label was awarded to him to encourage him in this direction. “The idea is to ensure that the hospital is more in line with territorial care pathways, that it is more open to the city”, explains Ludovic Guilcher, the elected official in charge of health at the town hall of ‘Issy.

Partnership at the Epinettes health center

Among the actions carried out jointly, the municipality and the Swiss Hospital opened a health center in the Epinettes district in February 2020. This area of 8,000 inhabitants lacked general practitioners, but also specialists, particularly in paediatrics, for its population on average younger than in the rest of the city. The two structures offer a range of complementary care: the municipality provides temporary general practitioners, the hospital, specialists.

For several years now, private doctors in Issy have been able to reach the services of the Swiss Hospital 24 hours a day, via a specific number, in order to have one of their patients hospitalized in an emergency. The establishment has also signed cooperation agreements with several nursing homes in the area to facilitate patient care.

Ensuring better networking

Overall, the Swiss Hospital is part of the care pathway for the inhabitants of Issy and neighboring towns. “80% of patients come from municipalities within a radius of five kilometers around the hospital, which proves its territorial anchoring”, continues the elected official.

“It’s a chance to have a hospital on its territory, we want to take advantage of it to multiply the efforts in order to offer a better medical network”, he concludes. Although the “local hospital” label is above all symbolic (it does not grant additional resources to the hospitals concerned), it nevertheless brings additional credibility to this approach, particularly in the context of funding requests.
