Issues New Avanza Use Front Wheel Drive, Production and Maintenance is Cheaper

The latest Toyota Avanza will reportedly slide in the near future. Rumor has it, the latest Toyota Avanza will be completely overhauled. A widely discussed issue, the Toyota Avanza will carry front-wheel drive.

Since its inception almost 18 years ago, the Toyota Avanza uses a rear-wheel drive system. If it is true that the Avanza’s drive system is remodeled into front wheel drive (FWD), this will be a new thing for this MPV nicknamed the car of a million people.

Automotive observer Bebin Djuana said, there are several advantages of front-wheel drive cars. He said, from the producer’s point of view, the use of FWD drives would be cheaper to produce.

“Because there are several components that are not there. The easiest thing that can be seen, the propeller shaft is not needed, the axle that runs from right to left is no longer present, it is put together in the gearbox. So just make gears to get to the drive wheels,” said Bebin to detikcom, Thursday (30/9/2021).

This is also in line with the owner’s side. According to Bebin, the cost of maintenance can be cheaper.

“Because there are fewer components. In terms of maintenance, it’s more efficient. I don’t care about the propeller shaft, because there is a case of an unbalanced propeller shaft that feels like the car is running 100 km/hour. All of the cars vibrate. In FWD, there is no such thing,” said Bebin.

Bebin himself did not want to comment on which one is better FWD or RWD (rear wheel drive). According to him, FWD and RWD are the same.

“There will be no end to the argument about which one is better. It’s useless to discuss it. It’s always a debate which one is better to push or pull, there will be no end (the debate),” said Bebin.

Regarding the assumption that FWD cars are not strong enough to climb, according to Bebin, it is not a problem with the propulsion system. There are many factors that affect the car’s failure or not to climb.

“If you are not strong enough to climb, the problem is not driving the front wheels or the rear wheels, the problem is in the engine and the driving technique. Now you are late for shifting gears, you will slip,” said Bebin.
