Thank you very much for making India proud,” said Pooja. He was received with great enthusiasm by the passengers. Another member of the flight crew approached S Somnath with a tray of food and drinks and handed him a note full of congratulatory words. Both were successfully implemented in the GSLV Mk-Kakaka D1 rocket (GSLV Mk-III D). He also took the helm of the throttleable engines for the Chandrayaan-2 lander. In 2018, he was appointed as the Director of VSSC. He oversaw the launch of the 50th PSLV and the launch of Chandrayaan-2.
