End of war in Gaza
It was decided to further expand the discussion.
Discussions have advanced one step further amid growing pressure domestically to find a solution to return the hostages held by Hamas and regionally to find a solution to end the war.
However, it is said that Israel will not accept Hamas playing a part in Palestine’s post-war plan as per the Egyptian-mediated plan.
The American daily Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported on the 26th (local time) that following the War Cabinet meeting the previous day, an expanded Security Cabinet meeting will be held that evening.
Spokespeople for key war cabinet members Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and Benny Gantz, leader of the opposition National Unity Party, all declined to answer questions about the Egyptian mediation plan.
However, they have all stated that they will not allow Hamas to maintain power after the war.
The 14 voting members of the security cabinet will meet tonight to be briefed on hostage releases and the status of the war, but will not vote on the Egyptian mediation plan, a source told WSJ.
The Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) is expected to send a delegation to Cairo soon to discuss the Egyptian mediation plan, PLO executive member Ahmed Majidalani said.
It is said that the PLO previously opposed this arbitration plan because it objected to some of its contents.

The PLO is an internationally recognized Palestinian political coalition organization that dispatches a Palestinian representative to the United Nations, and is led by the Fatah Party of PLO Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and head of the Palestinian Authority (PA).
Hamas, Fatah’s rival political faction, ousted Fatah and the PA from the Gaza Strip and has ruled the Gaza Strip for 16 years, and the PA’s control is limited to the West Bank.
This mediation plan prepared by Egypt together with Qatar covers the end of the war that began on October 7, and is evaluated as the most comprehensive peace negotiation plan ever proposed.
In the first phase, fighting will be halted for up to two weeks, and Hamas will release 40 to 50 Israeli hostages and Israel will release 120 to 150 Palestinian prisoners.
In stages 2 and 3, a large-scale exchange of hostages and prisoners will take place, as well as the establishment of a Palestinian transitional government with jurisdiction over both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, and preparations for elections. These include Fatah and Hamas.
Israel is willing to discuss phase one of these, said Danny Danon, a leading member of the ruling Likud party.
He said Israel is considering options in Egypt as it seriously considers any opportunity to release hostages, and regarding phases 2 and 3, he said, “We are confident that Hamas will not be included in any future agreement in Gaza.”
Israel is not stopping its offensive against the Gaza Strip regardless of the Egyptian mediation plan.
Amid pressure from the United States, civilian casualties can be reduced.
Transition to low-intensity military operations
While preparing, the Israeli military announced on this day that it had almost completed the dismantlement of Hamas in the northern Gaza Strip, but that the war would continue for several more months.
