Israel’s Claim of Partially Restored Water Supply to Gaza Not Confirmed by Authorities

Washington: Gaza authorities have not confirmed Israel’s claim that it has partially restored water supply to the war-torn Gaza. Local media reported that Israeli Energy Minister Israel Katz said that water supplies to southern Gaza had been restored.

Following this, US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said in an interview with the news media that Israel had partially restored the water supply.

The Israeli Energy Minister also stated that it was decided to restore the water supply outside of the agreement between US President Joe Biden and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

But none of these claims have been confirmed by the Palestinian Authority. There were reports that water supply was difficult as there was no electricity supply in many places.

In the context of the escalation of the Israel-Hamas war, China has come out to criticize Israel severely. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that Israel’s actions crossed the boundaries of defensive measures and that Israel should immediately stop the mass punishment of the people of Gaza.

He demanded that the problems should be resolved through discussion as soon as possible and that there should be no move from other countries to escalate the conflict. This is the first time China has responded since the start of the war.

Wang Yi stated his position in a telephone conversation with Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan.
