Israel’s attacks on Iran may lift the taboo on Ukraine striking Russia with Western weapons

Israel has launched a series of attacks on military sites in Iran, while some of Ukraine’s allies continue to limit attacks on Russian territory. The Telegraph.

Hamish de Breton-Gordon, a former British army colonel and chemical weapons expert, said the development should encourage Ukraine’s allies to increase military aid.

The colonel indicated that Western partners were somewhat relieved that the Israeli strikes did not affect Iran’s nuclear program and warned that this could be a long-term strategic mistake.

Gordon calls on British Prime Minister Keir Starmer to address the differences in US and UK views on the war in Ukraine, noting that the US has provided much more military aid to Israel.

Gordon also stressed that attacks on Iran’s missile facilities could have more impact than meets the eye. According to him, this could reduce the supply of weapons to Russia. If Israel succeeds in stopping Iran’s support for terrorist groups, it will lead to a de-escalation of the conflict in the Middle East and a reduction in support for Russia, which will weaken Russia’s attacks on Ukraine, the a commentator suggests.
