– No one mentioned Hamas, or the fact that the victims of the brutal and reckless terrorist attacks are Israelis.
This is what Israel’s ambassador to Norway, Avraham Nir-Feldklein, says in a statement.
He reacts to the fact that Hamas’s attack and Israel’s right to defend itself are apparently being compared, as no explicit distinction was made during the commemoration.
Refuting statements
Storting President Masud Gharankani refutes the ambassador’s statements.
– The ambassador knows very well that when we mention “innocent people exposed to a brutal and merciless terrorist attack”, it is precisely to show the Storting’s solidarity with Israel after Hamas’s terrible terrorist attack, which has shocked us all. And of course Israel has the right to defend itself. A message I also mentioned when I visited the synagogue this week, says Gharankani to Dagbladet.
He continues:
– The Storting shows solidarity with the civilian population in both Israel and Palestine. Violence, hatred and fear are never the solution.
Here you will find all Dagbladet’s articles about what has happened in Israel and Palestine since Hamas’s attack on Saturday.
Fears ground invasion is “Iranian trap”
– Hamas is responsible for all innocent lives that are lost, both Israeli and Palestinian, says Nir-Feldklein.
He further claims that the people of Gaza have been held hostage by Hamas for the past 16 years, and that they have been used as human shields while Israel fights against what he describes as a terrorist organisation.
– What they are doing is much worse than some of what we have seen from IS, says the ambassador.
Could mean the end: – Israel’s al-Qaeda
– We are very disturbed by the fact that according to the President of the Storting’s statements, there is no difference between Hamas and Israel, he continues.
Hamas is on the EU and US terror list, among other things. The UN has not put the organization on its terrorist list, which means that Norway has not labeled the organization as such either. Now the ambassador expects Norway to follow in the US’s footsteps.
