Lifshitz’s daughter explained that her mother was lowered into a “huge network” of spider-web-like tunnels, where she was placed.

Reuters quoted Lifshitz as saying, “The Israeli army did not take the Hamas threat seriously enough,” adding that the expensive security fence aimed at
Removing the militants “did not do the trick at all.”

On Monday, Hamas released Lifshetter and another eighty-year-old woman, after kidnapping them, along with about 220 other kidnappers, from inside Israeli territory, during the surprise attack it launched on October 7.

The Israeli Prime Minister said that the released women were residents of the kibbutz residential complex, revealing that Hamas had kidnapped them, along with their elderly husbands, and transported them to the Gaza Strip.

The Prime Minister explained that their husbands are in their eighties and are still in Gaza.

Lifshitz’s daughter, Sharon, said in an interview with Israeli television that she does not yet have any information about her father and the other kidnappers.

The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the two women were transferred to a medical center after their release.

On October 7, Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel, resulting in more than 1,400 deaths, most of them civilians and including women and children, according to the Israeli authorities.

Israel counted about 220 kidnapped Israelis, foreigners and dual nationals who were kidnapped by Hamas fighters in the Gaza Strip after their attack.

The Israeli response to the Hamas attack led to the death of more than five thousand people in the Gaza Strip, most of them civilians, including more than two thousand children, as a result of intense air strikes, according to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
