Deadly Israeli attacks continue across the Gaza Strip. Israeli forces are advancing towards the centre of Deir al-Balah and the population of Gaza is now crowded into just 10% of the besieged territory. On Saturday, an Israeli airstrike in Deir al-Balah killed at least 18 members of a single family, including eleven siblings aged between two and 22. On Sunday, another attack in the same region killed more Palestinian children. Mohammed Awad Khattab said six of his grandchildren were killed in their sleep. The Israeli strike also killed his daughter, the children’s mother, who worked for the United Nations.

Mohammed Awad Khattab“My daughter struggled for several years to have children. She had them through in vitro fertilization. Four of the children were quadruplets. The eldest son and the youngest daughter, who was only one and a half years old, also lost their lives in the attack. What wrong did these innocent children do? Did they pose a danger to Israel? Did they even have weapons?”

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) marks World Humanitarian Day on Monday by honoring the agency’s 207 employees who have died since Oct. 7 in Israeli attacks.
