Canada insisted on Saturday on “the fundamental importance of protecting journalists” after the Israeli attack on a building housing international media in Gaza, and called for “immediate measures” to end the violence.

Noting in a tweet that Canada is following “with great concern” the situation in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, Canadian Foreign Minister Marc Garneau called on “all parties” to take “immediate action to end violence, defuse tensions and protect civilians, refugees, journalists and the media ”.
