Israeli spy: The government had to imprison some of the hostages’ families

Famous former Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard said that Israel should have silenced the families of hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, and even imprisoned some of them, in order to avoid public pressure to reach an agreement with the movement.

Who is Jonathan Pollard?

What did Jonathan Pollard say?

Israeli Channel 14 broadcast a clip of Pollard giving his opinion on the hostage issue, which Hamas has been holding since the October 7 attack.

The former Israeli spy stated:

  • When war was declared, the first thing the government should have done was to declare a national emergency and tell all the families of the hostages: “Either you shut your mouths or we will shut them for you. You will not interfere in the conduct of this war and you will not be used by the international community or by the leftists.”
  • If that means imprisonment and silencing some of the hostages’ family members, so be it.
  • We are at war.
  • Pollard criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for approving the hostage deal this week.
  • He said he would not vote again for the far-right Religious Zionism party, which voted in favor of the agreement, calling for the war to continue without any deal, even at the cost of killing many Israeli hostages.
