Israeli soldiers mistook three Israeli hostages for being “threats” and shot them dead during a battle in the Shejaya area of the Gaza Strip. About it it says in a message from the Israel Defense Forces.

The Israeli army also named two of the dead: Yotam Haim, who was kidnapped by Hamas militants from Kibbutz Kfar Azah on October 7, and Samer Talalk, kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Am on October 7. The family of the third hostage asked not to disclose information about him.
“The Israel Defense Forces immediately began investigating the incident. The IDF stresses that this is an active combat zone, where fighting has continued over the past few days. Immediate lessons were learned from this event and were conveyed to all troops on the ground,” the IDF said in a statement.
Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, killing about 1,200 people and taking 240 hostages. The Israel Defense Forces responded to the attack by launching airstrikes into the Gaza Strip and then launched a ground operation.

Under the terms of the deal, militants released 81 Israelis and several other nationals outside the deal. In return, the Israeli authorities released Palestinians from prison – a total of 210 people.
