Israeli Soldiers Killed in Khan Yunis Explosion: Investigation Underway

The Hebrew Channel 13 revealed that 3 Israeli soldiers were killed and 14 others were injured, 5 of them seriously, in an explosion in a besieged building yesterday afternoon in Khan Yunis.

The channel’s website stated that the dead were Sergeant Dolev Malka (19 years old), Sergeant Abek Terry (19 years old), and Sergeant Yanun Yitzhak (20 years old), indicating that an investigation had been opened into this ambush.

He also added that the dead were among the 450th Battalion of the Al-Basalah Brigade, which in recent days replaced the Paratroopers Brigade that left Gaza in the Gaza Strip.

Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the forces entered the building on foot, while another force secured it, and at some point, the building was blown up with a series of devices that were activated one after the other, causing parts of it to collapse.

Investigations showed that the incident occurred in an area considered safe by the Israeli army, which prompted the army to investigate whether the Palestinian factions had recently placed these explosives, or were detonated remotely.

This week also witnessed the bombing of a besieged building in Gaza City, causing the death of two Israeli soldiers and wounding seven others, which made the Israeli army greatly fear the expansion of these operations and work to prevent them from being repeated.

The incident occurred in Gaza City during a raid launched by Givati Brigade fighters on the Zaytoun neighborhood, and as a result of the explosion of an explosive device in the building in which the Israeli forces were present, Major Yiftah Shahar, a company commander in the Sabar Battalion, and Captain Itay Seif, a platoon commander in the same battalion, were killed.
