A number of photos went viral on social media on Thursday (7/12) showing dozens of men in Gaza arrested, made to kneel, and even stripped of his clothes by soldiers Israel.

The photos show dozens of Gazan men kneeling, wearing only underwear and blindfolded, then being herded into the cargo bed of an Israeli military vehicle.

It is unclear when and why the detention occurred. However, a number of the identities of the men detained have been confirmed by colleagues and family members.

At least some of the men were civilians not affiliated with militia groups, according to the conversations CNN with one of their relatives and a statement from one of the news agencies.

On Thursday, the Euro-Mediterranean Human Rights Monitor posted a photo of mass detentions and stated that “Israeli soldiers detained and tortured dozens of Palestinian civilians.”

“Euro-Med Monitor received reports that Israeli forces carried out random and arbitrary arrests of displaced persons, including doctors, academics, journalists and elderly men,” the human rights organization (HAM) said in a statement.

The Israel Defense Forces have so far not responded to questions CNN. CNN itself has done geolocation and found several images taken in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza Strip.

Israeli military spokesman Daniel Hagari said during a press conference Thursday that his party was investigating and examining anyone with ties to Hamas.

“We captured them all and questioned them. We will continue to dismantle each of the strongholds until we are finished,” Hagari said.

Israeli soldiers arrest journalists

In a statement on Thursday, Al-Araby Al-Jadeed news agency said one of its correspondents and several members of his family were in photos of those detained.

“Today, Thursday, the Israeli occupation army arrested the journalist and the office director The New Arab in Gaza, our colleague Diaa Al-Kahlot, from Market Street in Beit Lahia, along with a group of brothers, relatives and other civilians,” wrote Al-Araby Al-Jadeed.

“The occupation deliberately forced Gazans to strip off their clothes, searched them, and humiliated them when they were arrested before taking them to unknown destinations, according to what people there told us.”

Al-Araby Al-Jadeed’s editor-in-chief, Hussam Kanafani, said in a statement that Al-Kahlot and his family were still missing.

“We will make every possible effort, working with international institutions and organizations that care about the rights and freedoms of journalists in the world, to find the whereabouts of our colleague Diaa and release her as soon as possible,” Kanafani said.

Meanwhile, according to a relative of the detained man, Hani Al-Madhoun, Israeli military forces suddenly called all the men out of the residence.

His cousin, Aboud, was also one of the people detained by military forces. In fact, Aboud was just a shopkeeper who helped his father with construction every day.

“[Dia] not involved in activities [kelompok] apa pun,” kata Al-Madhoun.

Israel launched aggression in Gaza on October 7 as a result of the Hamas invasion. To date, at least 17,177 Palestinians have been killed as a result of Israeli attacks.
