The Israeli authorities announced that 44 male and female soldiers and 30 security personnel were killed in the attack launched by Hamas since yesterday, Saturday.
According to what was reported by the American CNN network, the service members who were killed were police and border officers and members of the Israeli Al-Yamam anti-terrorism unit.
On the other hand, the network reported that the Israeli army is trying to determine the exact number of those captured and taken to Gaza, as the international army spokesman confirmed the complex nature of the situation. Spokesman Colonel Richard Hecht said the military understood that dozens of hostages had been taken to Gaza.
