BerlinBecause of an anti-Semitic attack three years ago, the Israeli restaurant Feinberg’s in Schönberger Fuggerstrasse gained notoriety. A man bullyed innkeeper Yorai Feinberg for minutes. A video recording of the verbal attack caused outrage across Germany.
The operator wasn’t intimidated and carried on. Now the media are reporting on Yorai Feinberg again. As he announced on his Facebook page, he had to close his restaurant at the end of the year. He ran Feinberg’s for ten years. Now it’s over. The reason for the closure is therefore a rent increase and the lack of income in the corona lockdown. The closure is “like losing a child,” writes Feinberg sadly on his Facebook page.
Due to the pandemic, all restaurants are closed at least until February 14th, only take-away sales are possible. Because the income is missing during this time, restaurateurs in Berlin always give up completely. The Berliner Zeitung reports on this in a dossier.
“It is particularly painful to be hit during the lockdown, when all restaurateurs are afraid of their existence, and in times of distance rules when the restaurant could only serve 4 tables. Despite all the regulations, commercial tenancy law unfortunately does not provide tenant protection, despite an unfair balance of power and conflicts of interest, ”explains the operator on his Facebook page.
