Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu’s Vision for a Demilitarized and Rebuilt Gaza Strip

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu believes that in the newly rebuilt and demilitarized Gaza Strip there should be no place for radical elements in the future.

“It seems clear to me what the future of Gaza should look like. At the end of this battle [палестинское движение] Hamas will disappear, we will destroy Hamas not only for ourselves, but also for the sake of civilization, for the sake of the Palestinians and the Israelis. We want to see Gaza demilitarized, cleared of radical elements and rebuilt,” he said in a November 9 interview with Fox News.

The head of government added that Israel does not seek to capture, occupy or rule the Palestinian enclave. But for some time to come, Israel will need “a reliable force that, if necessary, will enter Gaza and eliminate the killers” to prevent the resurgence of Hamas, he said.

“My expectations are for a rebuilt Gaza for the people of Gaza,” Netanyahu concluded.
