Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu Meets with US Secretary of Defense Austin at Ministry of Defense in Tel Aviv

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met on Monday with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin at the headquarters of the Israeli Ministry of Defense (Kiryah) in Tel Aviv.

The meeting was attended by Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant, head of the Israeli National Security Council Tzachi Hanegbi, Israeli Chief of Staff Herzi Halevy, and the Prime Minister’s Military Secretary, Major General Avi Gil.

On the American side, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Charles Brown, the Deputy Chief of Mission at the American Embassy in Israel, Stephanie Hallett, and the Chief of Staff of the US Department of Defense, Kelly Magsamin, attended.

A lengthy meeting is scheduled to be held with members of the emergency government that is managing the war on the Gaza Strip, called the “War Cabinet.” Earlier, Austin held a bilateral meeting with his Israeli counterpart, Gallant, in his office at the headquarters of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, and the American Chief of Staff, General Brown, participated in the meeting. Also participating on the Israeli side were the Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, the Director of the Unit for Coordination of Israeli Government Activities in the Palestinian Territories, known as “the Cogat” and other officials of the Israeli Ministry of Defense.

Austin’s plane arrived in Tel Aviv today, Monday, where Austin is scheduled to visit Bahrain and Qatar to confirm American pledges to strengthen security and stability in the region and to work with partners and allies to enhance their defense capabilities, according to a post on his official account on the “X” platform.
