A few days ago, there were rumors that Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett had offered mediation to end hostilities in Ukraine.
Bennett told the press that he had previously said in a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin that Israel was ready to be a mediator, without mentioning whether Putin had accepted the offer.
So far, two rounds of talks have taken place in the peace saunas of Ukraine and Kiev, both without significant results.
Ukraine has also expressed its desire to be an international mediator in negotiations with Russia to end the war.
“We do not trust the Russian Federation at all, so we want an international mediator,” Mikhail Podolak, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, told a news briefing.
The Ukrainian side is complying with all legal formalities and recording all of Russia’s violations, the adviser said, confirming that the third round of talks with Russia will take place again over the weekend, judging by Belarus, as Moscow has ruled out talks with other countries. He assumed that countries such as Turkey, Hungary and Poland could hold further talks.
