Tel Aviv –
Prime Minister (PM) Israel Benjamin Netanyahu categorically rejects plans for international recognition of the country Palestine. Netanyahu said such an initiative would only “reward terrorism in a huge way.”
Netanyahu’s refusal was conveyed in X’s social media post on Thursday (15/2) midnight local time. Previously, a similar rejection was also conveyed by controversial Israeli ministers such as the Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir and Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich.
Netanyahu and the Israeli ministers responded to the latest reports by leading media United States of America (AS), The Washington Post, which reviews plans for international recognition for a Palestinian state. That’s as reported AFPFriday (16/2/2024).

In its report, The Washington Post, citing sources from a number of US and Arab diplomats, revealed that the United States, which is Israel’s main ally, is working with several Arab countries on a comprehensive plan for long-term peace between Israel and Palestine.
The plan, according to The Washington Post, includes a firm timeline for the creation of a Palestinian state.
“Israel will continue to oppose unilateral recognition of the Palestinian state,” Netanyahu stressed in a Hebrew-language statement delivered via social media X.
“Such an admission, following the October 7 massacre, would provide a huge reward for unprecedented terrorism and would hinder any future peace agreement,” he said.
“Israel firmly rejects international diktat regarding a permanent settlement with Palestine,” Netanyahu reiterated.
