Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel will not agree to a ceasefire with Hamas in the Gaza Strip and will move forward with plans to destroy the group, Reuters reported.
Netanyahu said that in all wars there are unintended civilian casualties and the Israeli assault on Gaza, which is controlled by Hamas, was a battle between “civilization and barbarism”. He also called on his allies to support Israel.
At a press conference in Tel Aviv, Netanyahu’s Defense Minister Yoav Galant and his government’s Strategic Affairs Minister Ron Dermer also spoke to reporters.
Dermer said Israel’s coordination with the US in the fight against Hamas was “unprecedented in history” and that the country’s relationship with Russia was complicated.
