Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Sunday that Israel’s allies “have a weak memory” regarding the Hamas attack on October 7, adding that Israel will continue its attack on the Gaza Strip despite increasing international pressure.
Netanyahu said at the beginning of a government meeting, “To our friends in the international community, I say: Is your memory so weak? So quickly did you forget October 7th, the worst massacre committed against the Jews since the Holocaust?”
He added, “So quickly are you prepared to deprive Israel of the right to defend itself against the monsters of Hamas?”
Netanyahu reiterated that Israel will continue its attack on the Gaza Strip, including the city of Rafah, while evacuating civilians from the combat areas.
What did Netanyahu say?
- Increased international pressure will not prevent us from achieving the goals of the war on Hamas.
- Israel will launch operations in Rafah and evacuate civilians from combat areas.
- We will carry out operations in Rafah and it will take a few weeks.
- He criticized allied countries and said they had “weak memory” regarding the October 7 attacks.
Netanyahu’s statements came almost simultaneously with other statements by the Israeli Defense Minister in which he declared that “the security establishment is committed to taking advantage of every opportunity to return the hostages.”
The Israeli Defense Minister said, “Military pressure through ground maneuvers is the key to the return of the kidnapped,” noting that the results of the war will affect Israel for decades to come.
Earlier, the Israeli Foreign Minister said, “The most important red line for Israel is that we will not agree to stop the war in Gaza.”
He, in turn, repeated the talk about the invasion of Rafah, and said, “The ground operation in Rafah will be carried out, and without entering Rafah, we cannot achieve victory.”
