Attack on an Israeli base in Iraq
One-way unmanned aerial vehicles were launched against Israel’s Golani military base in the “Occupied Palestinian Territories,” the Islamic Resistance in Iraq, an Iraqi umbrella organization close to Iran, announced today.
Yesterday, the same organization announced that it launched an attack with drones against an Israeli position in the Jordan Valley.
Iraqi Shiite paramilitary groups, as well as other factions close to Tehran, have vowed to take action in “solidarity” with the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
Netanyahu’s remark about the hostages
About 50 of the 97 hostages still being held are still alive, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is quoted as saying, according to Israeli media.
Netanyahu reportedly made this assessment during a meeting with the Foreign Affairs and Security Committee of the Knesset, the Israeli parliament, according to media reports. There has been no official confirmation of this information; the meeting took place behind closed doors.
Fewer than ten hostages have been freed in Israeli military operations, several others have been recovered dead.
Large-scale Israeli military operations have killed at least 41,431 Palestinians in the small besieged coastal enclave, according to Hamas’ health ministry.
