Israeli Politician Almog Cohen Sparks Outrage with Controversial Statement on Killing Palestinians During Ramadan

Jakarta – An Israeli official named Almog Cohen caused a stir in cyberspace. He said that Ramadan was the best time to kill Gazans in Palestine.

Quoting Middle East Eye, Almog Cohen made this controversial statement on Tuesday, March 26 2024. At that time, he was present as a guest speaker on an Israeli television station.

Initially, Almog Cohen was asked by the interviewer when was the best time to attack Rafah. He also answered when Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu decided.

“The fasting month of Ramadan is the best time to kill them. They are weak and tired,” said the man who is also a member of the Israeli Knesset or parliament.

A member of the right-wing political party Otzma Yehudit – a colleague of Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir – admits he has no compassion for Palestinians. He asked Benjamin Netanyahu to kill them all.

“And no, I don’t pity them. I pity my brother. And I ask the Prime Minister, to send troops, to go into Rafah and kill them. To kill them!” insisted Almog Cohen.

Almog’s statement angered many netizens. Palestinian supporters and human rights activists condemned Almog’s words.

The reason is, Almog said this one day after the United Nations (UN) issued a ceasefire resolution in Gaza. All countries that are members of the UN agree, except the United States (US).

“This is amazing, keep showing the world your true colors!” said the account owner @n*****x on Instagram.

“The eyes of the world are on you. You will be the architect of your downfall, and the world will testify as you lie in the grave you have made for yourself,” said the account @b***.

To this day, Israeli air attacks are still ongoing in the Gaza Strip. The Palestinian news agency, WAFA, reported that the death toll in the Gaza Strip had reached 33,037 people, mostly women and children. This data was released by the Ministry of Health in Gaza on Friday (5/4/2024).
