Israeli Police Hunt for Killers in West Bank: Schools Forced to Close

West Bank

Schools in West Bank forced to close. This is the aftermath of the actions of the Israeli police who are hunting for the killers of Israeli fathers and children.

Reported AFP, Sunday (20/8/2023), the two Israeli men were shot dead at a car wash in Huwara. Israeli media identified the two victims as Shay Silas Nigrekar (60) and Aviad Nir (28).

The acting governor of Nablus Ghassan Daghlas ordered the school in Huwara to be closed “after requests from parents who were afraid of the reaction from the settlers,” he told AFP.

Huwara, a city in Palestine, was the site of a series of attacks on Jewish settlers. Settlers also returned the attack to towns and villages.

“Every time there is an attack that has a negative impact on the residents of Huwara… the settlers come in, throw stones and smash cars,” local resident Ashraf Odeh told AFP.

“The army can’t do anything for you because the priority is protecting the settlers before protecting us,” he continued.

On Sunday, Israeli troops also blocked access to the nearby villages of Beita and Aqraba as their hunt for the shooting suspects continued, an AFP correspondent reported from the area.

“Our security forces are currently looking for the killer… the day of this terrorist will also come and sooner than he thought,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told a cabinet meeting on Sunday.
