Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu announces upcoming ground operation to end Hamas in Gaza Strip

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has assured that a ground operation in the Gaza Strip that will put an end to Hamas will take place.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that a ground military operation in the Gaza Strip will take place. He did not announce the timing.

He made a corresponding statement on press conferences in Tel Aviv on October 25.

The Israeli leader noted that over the past two weeks the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have killed thousands of Hamas terrorists. And this is not the end.

We are preparing for the ground operation phase. I won’t go into details. I’m not going to say when this will happen or how.“, said the Prime Minister.

He also added that Israel’s motives and goals in this operation are known. And this is the release of hostages, as well as the complete destruction of the Islamist group Hamas, which carried out an invasion of southern Israel at the beginning of the month.

During his speech, the prime minister called Hamas militants “the walking dead,” making it clear that they would be mercilessly destroyed in response to aggression.

It is worth noting that the IDF is delaying the ground operation in the Gaza Strip for several reasons. One of them, journalists assure, is that Jerusalem has not decided on the fate of this enclave. In addition, Israel is under pressure from both allies and adversaries. The former require extremely careful treatment of the civilian population, the latter threaten to enter into conflict if an operation begins.

On October 7, Hamas militants, under the cover of massive rocket fire, carried out a large-scale invasion of southern Israel. They staged a real massacre in the border settlements, brutally killing civilians there and kidnapping women and children.

According to the latest data, about 200 Israelis were taken to Gaza as hostages. More than 1.4 thousand people were also confirmed killed during the aggression.

Israel responded to the aggression by declaring war on the Islamist group. In recent weeks, the IDF has been destroying Hamas infrastructure in Gaza.

Dialog.UA previously reported that Israel named two conditions, after which it would agree to end the war.

We also wrote that Biden named the reason for the Hamas attack on Israel.
