A number of fighter jet pilots Israel admitted they deliberately bombarded a number of buildings in Gaza Strip, Palestine, because of frustration in fighting with the militias Hamas or Islamic Jihad for eleven days.
Reported Middle East EyeOn Tuesday (25/5), a number of buildings in the Gaza Strip were targeted by Israeli fighter jets for destruction. They argued that the building was used by the Hamas group to coordinate attacks on Israel.
In addition, they attacked a number of buildings or structures in Gaza to destroy tunnels built by Hamas militias to attack.
However, the confessions from Israeli fighter jets reveal another side.
“I was on an air strike mission and felt that destroying buildings was a way of channeling my frustration at what happened to us by the militia groups in Gaza,” said an Israeli fighter jet pilot, Major D, whose identity was withheld, as quoted by the television station. Channel 12.
“We failed to stop the rocket attack and killed the leader of this organization, so we chose to destroy the building,” said Major D.
Channel 12 television station interviewed a number of Israeli Air Force pilots last week.
During the eleven days of fighting, Israeli air strikes destroyed nine buildings and a number of houses for residents in the Gaza Strip. They blew up the al-Jalaa building, which is rented as a bureau office by a number of foreign mass media such as Associated Press, Al-Jazeera and Middle East Eye.
Israel’s action drew criticism from various mass media organizations and the protection of human rights.
In the war, a total of 248 Gazans died as a result of Israeli airstrikes. While as many as 1,948 others suffered injuries from light to severe.
Meanwhile, according to Israeli records, Palestinian militia groups in the Gaza Strip such as Hamas and Islamic Jihad launched around 4,000 rockets. A total of 12 Israelis were killed in the attack.
Both sides agreed to a ceasefire on May 21 at 02.00 local time.
