Israel is on the verge of its first rule in 12 years led by someone other than the Prime Minister Benjamin netanyahu. If finalized in the coming week, the new coalition will, in many ways, be a historic one.
Reported Foreign Policy, Tuesday (6/8/2021), it will consist of a record number of parties, including, for the first time, from the Arab plains. Another record is that eight women will serve as ministers.

The party that sent its leader to become prime minister had the smallest electoral gain than ever. But the former may be remembered as the more historic of all: Israel will be, for the first time, a devout prime minister.
Naftali Bennett announced last weekend that he had reached an agreement with the party led by Yair Lapid —a former centrist secular news anchor — each of whom will serve as prime minister for two consecutive years.
If the deal is reached—Netanyahu and others are working hard to sabotage it—the result will be the most unusual government in Israel’s history, uniting Bennett, a deep right-wing man, with partners from the center (Lapid), the left (Labour), and even an Arab-Islamic party with ideological roots in the Muslim Brotherhood.
Bennett is a territorial maximalist who believes in annexing 60 percent of the West Bank, with an autonomous arrangement for Palestine there. He believes a two-state solution, which the Biden administration still values and Israel’s dwindling leftist element, will bring “disaster” to the Jewish state.
“I want the world to understand that a Palestinian state means no state of Israel. That’s the equation.”
