[Israeli-Palestine Conflict]Hamas releases 11 more hostages, ceasefire confirmed to be extended for 2 days

The four-day temporary ceasefire negotiation between Israel and the Palestinian militant organization Hamas entered its fourth day on Monday (11/27). Hamas released 11 people, including a pair of 3-year-old twin girls. The ceasefire mediator, the Qatari government, also confirmed that the ceasefire agreement would be extended for two days to allow for the release of more hostages and Palestinian prisoners.

Hamas released the fourth batch of Israeli hostages on Monday night. Israel said it had successfully received 8 children and 3 adults through the Red Cross, including a pair of 3-year-old twin girls and their mother. Qatar’s Foreign Ministry revealed that the 11 hostages released include 3 French, 2 German and 6 Argentine citizens.

Hamas said it had received a list of Palestinian prisoners to be released from Israel, including three women and 30 minor prisoners.

In the interim agreement reached by Israel and Hamas earlier this month, Hamas will release 50 hostages and an unspecified number of foreign citizens in exchange for a four-day ceasefire in Israel and the release of 150 Palestinian women and minor men. In the past four days, Hamas has released 69 people, including more than 10 Thai migrant workers. According to the original negotiation, for every 10 more Hamas people released, Israel would extend the ceasefire for one day.

A spokesman for Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday through the social media “X” platform (formerly known as Twitter) that Israel and Kazakhstan had agreed to extend the ceasefire for two days. According to earlier news, Hamas will release 20 more Israeli hostages.

Hamas confirmed it had agreed to extend the ceasefire for two days and received a list of 33 prisoners from Israel, including three women and 30 minors. Israel has yet to comment.

The Israeli government earlier pointed out that before the release of the fourth batch of hostages, 184 hostages are still being held in the Gaza Strip, including 14 foreigners and 80 Israelis holding dual nationality.
