Israeli Missile Reportedly Hits Truck Carrying Palestinians in Gaza: Eyewitnesses and Claims by Hamas

Oct 14, 2023 at 10:20 PM Update: an hour ago

A truck with dozens of Palestinians on board that was traveling along the safe route from the north to the south of Gaza was reportedly hit by an Israeli missile. This is what Hamas claims and eyewitnesses report to the AFP news agency.

Images of a truck being hit are circulating on social media. AFP was able to verify those images and they appear to match the testimonies. But the news agency cannot confirm whether the damage was indeed caused by an Israeli missile.

If so, the attack occurred at a time when Gaza residents needed to be able to travel safely from the north to the south. Israel itself had established that safe corridor and called on Palestinians to leave the north of Gaza.

According to Hamas, there have been at least 2,215 victims in Gaza since October 7, of whom 724 were children. On the Israeli side, 1,300 people were killed in the same period, most of them during Hamas’ attack on Israeli territory last weekend.
