Israeli Ministry of Defense Announces Successful Testing of SPIDER ALL IN ONE Ground-to-Air Defense System

The Israeli Ministry of Defense said in a statement published on Thursday that the test that the Spider system underwent included intercepting a drone. The target was intercepted with a direct and accurate strike.

The Ministry announced the completion of a successful experiment on a ground-to-air air defense system called SPIDRE ALL IN ONE.

She added that the modern defense component is capable of dealing with drones, fighters, cruise missiles, ballistic missiles and precision-guided munitions.

It provides the ability to rapidly deploy within minutes, in difficult terrain, with short reaction times, and can protect mobile forces and sensitive sites.

It features all the separate components combined into a single eight-wheel drive vehicle, including a missile launcher, radar, command and control system, and surveillance and target designation technology.

The test included intercepting a drone in a challenging operational scheme. The target was intercepted with a direct and precise strike.

A nightmare haunting Israel

The latest test comes as Israel faces cross-border attacks from Lebanon, Gaza and the Houthi group in Yemen, including missiles and drones.

Rockets and drones have become the greatest nightmare that haunts Israel, as it faces a variety of air threats from everywhere.

The Israeli media confirms that the continuation of Hamas and others in launching a barrage of missiles at various cities in Israel, in light of the presence of an advanced, multi-layered air defense network such as the Iron Dome and David’s Sling systems, confirms that the missile war has not yet ended.

Spider specifications

“Spider” is an Israeli short- and medium-range mobile air defense system developed by Rafael Advanced Defense Systems with assistance from the Israeli Aerospace Industries Company.

  • The system left a significant mark in 2005 when missiles were launched against test targets in Shadma, Israel, with direct hits.
  • Since then, the Spyder has been displayed in several military parades around the world.
  • The system is designed to protect both fixed installations and troops on battlefields from air threats.
  • The system is characterized by a fast response time and is capable of simultaneously detecting a large number of targets day and night.
  • It works in all weather conditions, at distances from 1 km to 20 km, at altitudes from 20 meters to 9000 metres, and at a rotation angle of 360 degrees.
