At 06:18 on Friday morning, the Israeli military, the IDF, confirmed that they had resumed fighting in the Gaza Strip.
They claimed that Hamas had broken the ceasefire and fired rockets at Israeli territory.
Two hours earlier, the flight alarm went off in the border town of Sderot. And not long afterwards the flight alarm went off again, this time in Holit.
Palestinian health authorities state that six people have been killed in the morning during attacks against Rafah in the south, while two children are said to have been killed during air strikes against Gaza City in the north.
An unverified video Aftenposten has seen shows a rocket being fired from the Gaza Strip at 04.42 Norwegian time. It is the same time that the flight alert went off in Sderot.

Another video, which Aftenposten has location-verified in Sderot, shows that the night sky above the city lights up. At the same time, you hear the flight alarm ringing over the city.
Aftenposten has not been able to verify the time of the video, which was posted around half an hour after the flight alarm went off.
Will attack in several places
Just minutes after the confirmation, Palestinian media reports of attacks inside the Gaza Strip began pouring in.
First there were attacks in the northern part of the Gaza Strip. Aftenposten has seen several unconfirmed photos of what are supposed to be bombs from fighter planes in Jabalia.
In a live video stream like Reuters news agency created just before 7 o’clock Norwegian time, scattered shooting and several explosions can be heard. The pictures were filmed in Sderot, and show what is happening inside the Gaza Strip.

– Hamas did not fulfill its obligation
The Israeli newspaper Haaretz quoting a statement from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office:
– Hamas did not fulfill its commitment to release several women held hostage.
In the same statement, it is emphasized that Hamas has now directed rocket attacks at Israeli citizens.
– With the resumption of fighting, we would like to emphasize: the government of Israel is committed to achieving the goals of the war – to release our abductees, to eliminate Hamas and guarantee that Gaza will never again pose a threat to the citizens of Israel, it continues.
Announced a ceasefire
Around 45 minutes before the ceasefire was broken, the renowned American newspaper Wall Street Journal reported that Israel and Hamas have agreed to extend the ceasefire by one more day.
The newspaper quoted Egyptian officials on the information Friday night.
The temporary ceasefire came into force last Friday and has opened the way for humanitarian aid to the civilian population of the Gaza Strip.
During the ceasefire, 83 Israeli hostages were released, among them several with dual citizenship. Most were physically in good shape, but mentally exhausted after many days in captivity. A further 24 hostages have been released, 23 Thais and one Filipino.
Israel claims that 125 people are still being held hostage.
240 Palestinians have been released from Israeli prisons during the ceasefire. Most of them are teenagers who were imprisoned for throwing stones and using incendiary bombs during clashes with Israeli soldiers.

When the ceasefire came into effect, the war between Hamas and Israel had been ongoing since 7 October. According to the Hamas-controlled health authorities, around 15,000 have been killed in Israeli attacks. Of these, 6,150 are children.
Around 1,200 people were killed in the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, most of them civilians.
