Al-Arabiya correspondent: The Israeli army targets the Qulaila area near Tyre, southern Lebanon
At dawn on Friday, the Israeli army announced the start of strikes in Lebanese territory, and Al-Arabiya correspondent reported that the Israeli army targeted the Qulaila area near Tyre, southern Lebanon.
The Israeli army said that its forces launched raids in Lebanon, following the launch of a barrage of rockets from Lebanese territory, in an attack that Israel attributed to Palestinian activists.
The army said in a brief statement that “the Israeli Defense Forces are currently carrying out strikes in Lebanon, details will come later.”
And the Lebanese media reported at dawn today, Friday, that the Israeli army carried out an attack on areas in southern Lebanon.
And the Lebanese Army Command announced, on Twitter, on Thursday, that an army unit had found missile launchers and a number of missiles intended for launch in the vicinity of the towns of Zibqine and Qalila, and work is underway to dismantle them.
Simultaneously, an Israeli military spokesman confirmed on Twitter that the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) was responsible for the rocket attacks launched from Lebanon on Thursday, according to Reuters.
He added that Israel holds the Lebanese government responsible for the missiles launched from its territory.
The Israeli spokesman, Avichai Adraei, said, “The party that fired the rockets from Lebanon is Hamas in Lebanon.”
Earlier, the Israeli army spokesman confirmed, on Thursday, that its air defenses had intercepted 25 of the 34 missiles launched from Lebanon towards Israel.
The Lebanese authorities opened an investigation, in cooperation with UNIFIL, to find out who was responsible for firing the rockets.
