(Cairo = Yonhap News) Correspondent Kim Sang-hoon = The Israeli military, which is targeting the heart of Hamas through urban warfare, assessed on the 11th (local time) that Hamas is losing control in the Gaza Strip as hundreds of thousands of civilians are evacuated to the south.

“With the support of the Air Force and Navy, we are deepening our operations in the al-Shati refugee camp in Gaza City,” said Maj. Gen. Daniel Hagari, the Israeli military’s chief spokesman, in a briefing this evening.

He said that over the past three days, about 200,000 civilians have evacuated from the northern part of the Gaza Strip to the south, and claimed, “With the departure of residents, Hamas is losing control in the Gaza Strip.”

Director Hagari added that Hamas is lying about Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest medical institution, in order to reverse this situation.

Major General Hagari said there were false reports that there was an airstrike on Al-Shifa Hospital, and explained, “We did not hit the hospital, but we are fighting terrorists close to the hospital.”

Director Hagari said he would continue to allow evacuation of patients and medical staff in the hospital as well as non-combat personnel in northern Gaza to the south, and explained this to Al-Shifa Hospital staff.

“We are in regular direct discussions with hospital staff,” he said. “They have asked us to help them move the babies in the pediatric ward to a safer hospital tomorrow, and we will provide the support they need.” .
