Will expand the ground offensive in southern Gaza

– The IDF continues to expand the ground operations against Hamas to all centers on the Gaza Strip, says Israeli Defense Forces spokesperson Daniel Hagari at a press conference on Sunday evening.

He emphasizes that the ground offensive in the south has started north of Khan Younis, and that the aim is for the effort to cover all the areas where Hamas is.

On Sunday evening, the military commander Herzi Halevi also made his own statement on Telegram about the battles in the south.

– We have fought strongly and thoroughly in the north of the Gaza Strip, and we are doing the same in the south now, says Halevi.

He further confirms that they have attacked several Hamas forces in the north of Gaza both yesterday and today.

– Early yesterday we started the same process here in the south of the Gaza Strip, and the attacks here will not be less forceful than those in the north, nor will they produce fewer results than those in the north.

On the night of Sunday, there were reports of ongoing bombing of Khan Younis, while residents were given leaflets with information on where the so-called “safe zones” should be.

At the same time, UN human rights chief Volker Türk expressed concern that hundreds of thousands of Palestinians in Gaza are forced to live together in an ever-smaller area, and emphasized that “there are no safe places in Gaza”.
